A NEW BREED OF MODERN TROUBADOUR

The brainchild of musician Cody Hall, CoyoteBear was originally conceptualized as an alter ego for a one-off opening act back in 2015. Left to marinate for a few years as Cody toured with his other band, Traveling Broke and Out of Gas, sharing stages with the Jerry Garcia Band, Tommy Chong, Elephant Revival, and other legends, CoyoteBear reemerged back in 2019 and has continued to gain momentum ever since.

Over each release, CoyoteBear has continued to refine his signature genre-fluid sound, an indie/Americana-tinged distillation of influences from Tom Waits to Willie Nelson via the worlds of punk, hip-hop, country and reggae in which he grew up. Combining the mix with a lyricism that pays an authentic homage to the truth-speaking, socially and environmentally conscious canon of folk rock and protest songs, CoyoteBear has successfully established himself as a pioneer of a new breed of modern troubadours.

Now, having had his music tapped for hit TV shows and the upcoming movie The Dogs, shared the stage with Jimbo Mathis and The Legendary Shack Shakers, and expanded his catalog with dozens of songs, CoyoteBear has turned his sights back to the stage, with plans for a slew of live performances in the works throughout the following months, much to the delight of his diverse and growing global fanbase.

"Too Many Ghosts", CoyoteBear's first full-length record released in 2024 is summed up here:

“Hall and his all-star roster of musicians create an atmospheric and powerful album. Like his trusty acoustic guitar, Hall utilizes mood as an instrument in most “Ghosts” tracks. We are almost in young Tom Waits territory as songs get dark, desperate and sorrowful as told by a deep, experienced, “I’ve been there, man” commanding voice, but at the same time there is hopefulness, gratitude and even optimism within the vinyl grooves for a deep and extremely worthwhile sonic journey.” - Tim Brouk
